Breakdown REPAIR Cover

Has anyone used this before - It is not breakdown cover but insurance if the car develops a fault during the insurance period

I ve been quoted 80 pounds for the entire year, which I think is extremely reasonable.

My only concern is when you come to actually claim and how the claim process works

I am also concerned that the same premium is given for brand new cars as well as cars ten years old and doesnt take into account how expensive the car is - I would have thought this would have affected the preimium.

Anybody used these and are they worth it?

Who is the cover with - please provide link.

£80.00 sounds a bit too good to be true for what amounts to warranty cover.

It doesn't look too bad. I'd be confident using the AA rather than a normal warranty company.
One big proviso is the need to have the vehicle serviced in accordance with manufacturers stated intervals.
Usual exclusions are friction surfaces - e.g. clutch plate and brake pads and consumables like filters and tyres.
Looks to be pretty good value.

I guess theres a grey area between breaking down & developing a fault. AutoAid might be of interest to you look at this thread

Few days back I enquired WhichCarWarranty for the same cover. They quoted me around £25/month for their gold cover.

But.... they said in first 90 days only mechanical breakdown will be covered and wear & tear won't be covered!

Now there is a grey area how do you distinguish between mechanical fault and wear & tear fault. So, you'll be at mercy of their own assessor!

    So, I didn't proceed further!

You would have the protection of the Financial Ombudsman Service so not down purely to their assessors - obviously people would rather not have to rely on ombudsmans to solve issues but it is good to know there is one.

Unless it is defined somewhere in the policy booklet then they would have to go with the "general understanding" of the phrase. It would be a safe bet that they would most likely use the manufactures guidelines for these things so if your car manufacture says that the cam belt should be replaced after 100k miles and yours breaks after 120k then they would be on fairly safe grounds to say it is wear and tear.
