  • I've come to this too late! I sold two plates on ebay for £21 last week... I packaged and overpackaged in endless bubble wrap and tape and more bubble wrap and tape... buyer claimed plates were both cracked. I gave full refund and learnt a lesson from it and promptly took all remaining crockery to my local charity shop!
    2014 GC: £957.61/ £5400

I think china needs substantial boxes as well as bubble wrap. I would wrap a plate in bubble wrap and then in something like a pizza box. To be extra sure if it was valuable I would put this in a larger box with loose fill between. It does make it heavy and for cheap items the postage cost is large compared to the item's value. If it is sent by carrier weight is not such an issue.

Amongst other things I send large bowls (up to 18 inch diameter) and pack them like this. It is worth packing fragile items to survive being thrown around as no carrier or RM offer insurance on glass or ceramics.
