Fidelity, Commshare & Cavendish

Options
I have my Fidelity funds registered with Commshare so I get half the trail commission - I want to register them with Cavendish now to get 100% trail commision - can I just re-register with them without telling Commshare and assume it will be cancelled automatically?

cheers

Cavendish have a change of agency form, so basically yes, you can simply do it without involving Commshare. They will simply stop receiving any trail payments.

It might be best to let them know anyway to make sure they don't cause any problems through lack of awareness.

I changed from a similar intermediary paying 0.25% trailback to Cavendish just by sending Cavendish the transfer form. It all went very smooth, and the value for money much better just with the £25 for new isa buys.

My only mistake was not waiting for my 6 monthly rebate cheque before I did it. When I very cheekily tried it on by asking my previous intermediary for my rebate for the part year I was with them before I changed they effectively told me where to get off :p

No matter, I much prefer Cavendish because the rebate is within the isa instead of a cheque through the post, and can be used to buy extra units as it comes in. Just remember to delete a few hundred £ from your max allowance for the year so you can invest the rebates throughout the isa year. Otherwise if you put the max allowance in April, the following rebate money will have to sit for the next isa year - unless you want to withdraw and spend it! :)
