My family and i were to travel from San Javier, Spain in July 2009, we were delayed for 5 hours and given a measly bottle of water and packet of crisps.
I have complained to AESA in Spain and they confirm that we are due compensation however the airline won't pay as they are awaiting a desicion from The High or European Court, has anyone else had a similar problem ?

I have been delayed twice in Spain and got nothing! The first time was with Flybe - from San Javier to Southampton. The flight was cancelled due to French air traffic controller's strike. The Flybe office at the airport wouldn't even rearrange my flight. They said I had to phone the UK myslef (I had a PAYG phone with very little credit). I was stuck for two days! Lost two days pay as well! The second time was Ryanair - San Javier to Bournemouth - again due to the French air traffic controllers. I was delayed five hours and got nothing - not even a bottle of water. I didn't realise they had to compensate you.0

If it's due to a strike they don't - not normally anyway.0

It's the stay to the Sturgeon Judgement, may be best waiting until there are further developments in 2012. Btw you have 6 years from 2009 to claim.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I should have made it clear that the delay was as a result of a problem with the air con on the plane. Have a look at the air users council website for full info on when you can claim.0

Oh I didn't realise that there were different rules. Thanks. I also was stuck, a couple of years ago, due to the French ferry workers going on strike!

It's certainly put me off going abroad where you have to go through or fly over France!0 -
