Anyone been to Lodz?

O/H wants to go to Lodz for a few days as he's heard there are loads of bars there.

From what I can see online, the place looks boring apart from the bars!

Has anyone been there and if so, did you like it?

It's an industrial town. Krakow, Gdansk or Wroclaw would be much more interesting places to visit.

Thanks apt. Been to Krakow, wasn't too impressed though, apart from a trip to Auschwitz. I think it's very important that the place remains open so the world doesn't forget.

Don't want to go all that way just for bars! I'll have a look at Wroclaw

We've been to Lodz. We went to look at the remains of the ghetto (not much evidence left now but you can still see some of the old walls and buildings) and the cemetery (a vast number of jewish graves mostly overgrown). We found it fascinating but as expected there was very little else of interest.

Thanks joe. So really you wouldn't recommend going then? Are the bars etc. worth bothering with?

If you are interested in the history it's worth a couple of days, otherwise I wouldn't bother
