Rant Alert - Why are sisters such pains?!
Comments

What about the Saturdays when there are internationals on and no premiership football? (assuming she has a season ticket to a premier club)0
-
Sorry your sister sounds a bit spoilt and annoying. You still have time for her to get a dress, just let her get it on her own, you can bond doing other things.0

My sister is also a pain...
She is refusing to wear the same dress as the other 3 bridesmaids, instead she keeps picking out dresses which are £150+!
I want all the bridesmaids to wear the same shoes (due to them now wearing different dresses) and my sister went out and bought some 6inch heels which I haven't ok-ed! (I have some small-ish bridesmaids and I don't want my sister towering over them.) She also kept looking at shoes which were £100+, mine only cost £50!
She now wants me to visit her to go dress shopping in her area, even tho I live 120 miles away, don't drive and she is the awkward one not wearing the dress I picked out...
She also moaned about how she'd be at uni on the day of the wedding... Even tho it's a bank holiday.
My family keep saying she's the maid of honour even tho she hasn't once asked if I need help or asked it she could do anything...
I think sisters are the worst type of bridesmaid... Oh and my sister is older that I am and already married... Although she did it abroad with just her and her OH so I think she's being bridezilla at my wedding when she should just go with the flow!
Basically let her get her own dress tho arm her with a colour swatch which is what I'm doing! :rotfl: (I think you can only find this certain colour in the material which she doesn't like!)❤Planned our wedding, still planning lessons❤

Spoonymouse, as much as I'm sorry to hear about your sister, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a pain in the !!! sister!
According to my mum, my sister threw a full on strop when she found out me and my mum are still going to look at dresses in a few weeks time (my sister was asked if she was free, football has an early kick off, but she said no she'd be going to the pub after, as it's an early kick off).
So she got told by my mum in no uncertain terms that she's had plenty of chances to go dress shopping, that she can come with us in a few weeks time but it was her own choice not to come, and that it's my wedding so I'll get final say in the dress anyway (my mum is paying for the dress).
In total contrast to this, one of OHs nieces is being one of our flower girls. My SIL2B called last night to offer to bring her up next weekend, driving 2 hours with two kids (aged 5 and 4 months) on her own, and she has offered to pay for the dress as well.
Family's eh, don't you just love them?!0 -
Awww your SIL2B sounds lovely... Maybe she can rub some of her kindness off on your sister...
And way to go for your mum! My mum is just making excuses for my sister resulting in me looking like the one who's being harsh...
Best of luck with getting your sister to pick her dress... If you manage it, let me know then I know there's hope

I think that your a saint putting up with her! As you said go shopping with your mum get the dress and make it very clear that you've tried on a number of occassions to include her and feel hurt and annoyed by her lack of response! Hence getting the dress without her. Also I think you really really need to sit down and have a face to face discission before your wedding and clear the air as you don't want this hanging over you on your day!:kisses3: Married 29th September 2012

Well, we may have a breakthrough on this!
Got an e-mail this morning from a bridal shop about 20 mins away from my mums (an hour from me) saying they have a sale on this weekend, forward it to my mum to see if she's free.
Also this morning, my sister asks my mum to borrow twenty quid so she can go to an away game this weekend - gets told no chance, you are coming to look at dresses! So apparently after throwing yet another teenage strop, she has calmed down and has actually been looking at dresses online that she likes.
So fingers crossed we see something on Saturday!0 -

well, we got her a dress this afternoon!
First shop we went to was a bit of disaster, she didn't have any dresses in the colour we were after, and all the styles my sister liked were all in too big a size for it to be even any use for her to try on. However, the lady in the shop did recommend another local stockist of the make of dress we were after so did pop in there on the off chance. She had a sample dress in my sister's size in the sale, but it was the wrong colour. However, my lovely mum said just to order the right colour at full price and she would pay for it! So love my mum just now! She had always said she will pay for it, but I didn't expect her to pay full price for it.
Hope everyone else who has problems with their sisters/bridesmaids get it sorted! Thanks for all the advice xxx0
