I stayed up there 4 years ago now but we did enjoy visiting the Isle of Arran for the day
Not very MSE though.

There is a really nice ice cream shop near the beach -Renaldo's which has lots of interesting flavours.
We had a 3 course chinese in Ayr which was very reasonably priced (can't remember the name though -sorry)
Electric brae is worth a trip (and free !)
If you have national trust membership there are loads of places nearby to visit -All the Robert Burn's places and Culzean Castle and gardens.
If you have children the park near the beach is good too :-)0 -
There is an excellent soft play centre and park in Ayr if your children are the right age for them.
We had a beautiful meal in a restaurant down the road from the park, beside a river, cant remember much more details.
Honestly though please find loads of things to do off site. We hated the park and spent all our time away fromm it and would never go back. Have you checked the reviews for the park, not too many good ones about. Sorry to put a down side on it but the only good thing about our stay was we had a brand new caravan (never been stayed in) but some of the others look awful and the q of complaints at the desk constently was huge.0 -

I live in Ayr so may be able to help. I spoke to someone last night who was staying at Craig Tara with his grandkids and he said they loved the pool in particular. There is a bus service to the town and if you get off at the bus station you will find Renaldos just yards away. Next to it is the Wellington chip shop which has a sit-in, if you prefer, but I was told they had a fire last night so not sure if it will be open. Several Indian restaurants/take aways in the immediate area. Treehouse very popular for food , and a Wetherspoons just across from it in a converted church. Further down the same street you will find a couple of chinese restaurants, the one at the bottom of the hill ,by the town hall, does a very good menu for just over £5 or another at under £10 depending on the time. It is called Ruby`s 7 days we eat there regularly . Next to it there is the Maltcross , similar to Wetherspoons serves meals and is child friendly, well as much as the local council allows. Walk on across the bridge and turn right you will find a pub called the Black Bull which does a very good breakfast for £3.50, and a 3 course lunch for £5.
If you fancy a day at the beach there is a very good playpark, and if the weather is not good you can take the kids into Pirate Petes which is adjacent. Few other things like bouncy castles and putting along the front. The pier is popular for sea fishing , great way to kill time if you have the gear and the weather is good.
Between Wetherspoons and Ruby`s you will find the tourist information shop, get a copy of What`s on booklet , or Google it for advance planning.
If you wish a higher standard of dining a look at Tripadvisors Ayr Restaurants pages would be a reasonable guide.
Hope you enjoy your holiday and if i can help further please ask.0 -

I didn't find it that bad, but than I just used it as base to go out exploring and rarely used it. It was very busy when I stayed there that's for sure. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0
