    I have marshalled road races on open roads, and as part of the procedure, we have to notify the police and do a risk assessment - hardly illegal;)
    The police even provide a few outriders for the big races.

    A risk assessment doesn't make something legal.

    thanks again for your replies. bike pretty much prepared, and continuing my carbo loading! really just the tyres to check on the morning and im all set!! already got my next one lined up..well possibly.

    i am tempted to make a dash out tomorrow and get some proper gear. i do have cycling shorts but i think there are probably defined as mountain bike shorts and my top is a cycling top but from a well known sportshop for £8 lol
    £18 for my old mobile.
    new proper meal planning to cut spending.
    £26 in coppers taken to bank.
    £30 under grocery budget last 2 weeks.

    You'd might have a point if it were a race. It's a sportive, not a race - there's a significant difference.
