hi,
Im currently on maternity allowance (as on mat leave), im due to go back on 17th august however have decided not to return to my old position. I had a interview last week for a new job which starts 25th august ( better money + better hours). Im a little confused as to what happens with maternity allowance and housing benefit????
I didnt know if anyone knew what i need to do and how to go about it?
Also my partner doesnt work and will be a stay at home dad, dd1 goes to primary school, dd2 goes to nursery 2 sessions a week (not funded til january), ds sits and gurgles all day :-) Do housing benefit take breakfast club fees and preschool fees into account? (my 2 daughters schools are other ends of town to each other)
Any help greatly appreciated?? x

if you return to work your MA will stop
it runs for 39 weeks as per ordinary maternity leave so its a bit strange tbh, i would call HMRC and find out why0 -
You will lose maternity allowance as soon as you start work, whether its your origional job or a new one.
Housing benefit only take into account these costs if you get help through tax credits to pay for them, as they are on your award letter. If you dont get the help they are not counted. But as only one parent is working you wont qualify for any help with these. Bit confussed as to why you put your children in breakfast clubs if the dad isnt working?0 -

I understand it will stop, just trying to figure out when as my maternity leave was only 26 weeks from my employer for some reason, there is 1 week gap between leaving my old employer and starting my new job, so dont know if it should end 17th or 24th august?
I need to put my eldest in breakfast club on a mon morning as my youngest daughter has nursery at opposite end of town starting at exactly same time. I know we not entitled to childcare element its just unfortunate my youngest missed out on 3yrs funding by 3 days so will have to pay for 1 term.
Its ok im just trying to get my head round finances for september thankyou for your help x0
