QUESTION re FirstDirect Black to Gold
Comments
-
Husband and I have both had First Direct Black cards for 6 months and paid them off last week. However, three weeks previously I rang and enquired
what the chances would be of having another 0% on a Gold Card. The guy said, pay off the First Direct Black Card, wait a couple of weeks and then apply as a new customer, shouldn't be a problem. So the day came, we paid it off, rang up to cancel the card as it now said £0 balance on the account on line and asked about any other offers around. Was told, we would have to reapply the normal way. So no special concessions even though we had paid it all back on time.0 -
Yes, I paid it off first. Indeed I think you have to as they cancel the old card on the spot and then issue you a new one, plus I'm sure you can't BT 0% debt between two FD cards. It doesn't matter when you switch - it can be before or after the 0% expires.Shinds wrote:Reaper - Would you recommend paying off the balance on the Black Card before anyone attempting to upgrade to the Gold card...?
And when would be the exact right time to upgrade..? Before your 0% ends on the Black or just after..?
I asked for the credit limit to be increased a few weeks before it ended and they agreed to keep the same credit limit when I switched to the new card.
Mary - I'm surprised at the operators response. It doesn't sound right. They did it for me on the phone and gave me instant approval after checking on the computer. If you are switching Black->Gold you can even do it by clicking a link on their web site.0
