Hi Sea, how is the book loading coming along? What more could a sane DFW person want to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon
Good news that OH is slowly coming round to the MSE way of things. OK, so it is not necessarily his LBM yet, but baby steps in the right direction - certainly a big improvement from last 6 months ago.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Seaxwyn...things seem to be turning around for you at last...long may it continue...
Your OH is doing really well now ....that's excellent...keep it up..,.0 -
Not a waste of time at all seaxwyn, got to speculate to accumulate, and that includes time and dodgy books as well as money!! even if only two sell thats made it worthwhile and dear oxfam can benefit from the rest!
You've probably timed it well as uni students will have just received their reading lists for next year and if you're selling college books chances are a few of them will be on it.

Good Morning Seaxwyn, I hope you are having a good weekend. Have you got all those books loaded yet? I have a pile in my loft that need sorting through but I don't think I will get it done today. Another thing to add to my list of "must do's" (don't think there should be an ' in do's but it doesn't read right if I put "dos" - ).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. hello hypno! Yes I have listed the books - all the ones worth listing that is - I now have four boxes to dispose of.
Having a not bad weekend thanks. Yesterday I went for a bike ride with DS and OH to a beauty spot I visited a lot last summer when I was really panicked about money. Going back to the same place brought it home to me how much better I feel about things now - still worried, but not in the same hopeless way - and not so alone with it now that OH is working and contributing if in his own slow and infuriating way.
When we got back he even looked on moneysavingexpert.com for info on life insurance! Something I have been badgering him to do since January - so pretty speedy really!
I've also introduced tv limits as it was doing my head in how much tv the kids were watching, DS particularly. Now TV is banned on weekend mornings, hoorah! Right now they are all carving carrot totem poles, a nice wholesome activity even if not very DFW as this is our food supply they are using!
I've got a job to complete for tomorrow but I don't think I'll do it, I'll just be honest with my client and say I couldnt do it, I'm sure they wouldnt want me working on a weekend. Instead I'll try and make some progress with last year's accounts, I'll try not to get my receipts mixed up with the carrot debris.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday and the children arent too cross about missing the racing. They could probably do with some rest after their busy week - hey, why not give them each a carrot to carve.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
The carrot totem poles sound fab! You could always roast them with a little oil for tea
Just added your diary to the list I regularly must catch up on!! Am getting more addicted now than I ever thought possible
How old are the kids? I'm sure you'll have said, but I can't read back too much or I'll never leave the computer lol.

HI Sea
Thanks - I'm utterly addicted too and always read your diary and numerous others! I have the greatest admiration for you dealing with a very difficult OH and being a teacher too!
I have four children: DDs aged 12 (twins) and 9 and DS who's just turned 6.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi Seaxwyn, I've just sat and read ur whole thread, and u seem to be feeling much better aboutthings now. I have no experience of being SE, but it must be difficult to be organised and make sure u get work done. I know I couldn't do it, I have enough trouble trying to get off here to do the housework!
Ur OH is doing well too, I know where ur coming from with the food issue. My OH comes from a family where the fridge is always full of lots of lovely things, where as I am trying to keep as tight a budget as poss, with nothing unless it's needed. My weekly budget is £50, but when he comes along it could easily be £100 spent:eek:
They do take a while to convert, but I think he's getting there
Good luck with everything

Hmm carrot totem poles - could do but have no carrots in the house. Only have brocolli so may have to use that instead :rotfl:
Roasting the resulting totems does seem a good idea though!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Crikey! That's a handful!
Makes the carrot totem poles even more admirable!DD is currently makig a night picture which has kept her amused for the last 20 mins but ds is still in the seek and destroy mode!
Look forward to hearing/reading more about your progress
Sarah - if OH comes we spend way over budget and it's usually on 'bargain' junk food for him!
