Quicken 2007 integrating with UK Banks

Hi. I just got myself Quicken 2007 and want to be able to use the connect feature to integrate with my UK bank accounts. However, First Direct whichis the first and main one is not in the list. Also there is no help on their website, other than the download statement function.
I'm new to these sorts of finance management packages, I just installed Quicken, and ran the update which did download a financial institutions update. I just started it and have got to the First Steps wizard, at the account page to input the bank for my first account.
there is no help on what to do if the bank is not in the list, and I can only imagine the list is there because it has pre-set settings for the banks.
Thanks for any tips on this.
Hussein.

As far as I know there are very few UK banks that support quicken0

Ah, well that puts that idea to rest. Thanks.

Hi. I was looking some more at this and it turns out that the default quicken version is the US version - and after some research I found that there did used to be a version for the UK, but that apparently this was stopped in January 2005. Is this true. If so, I'll just have to use Microsoft Money, although from the reviews I read Quicken won out on top. Also, if Quicken is a no go, is there a different name for Microsoft Money's UK edition?
Thanks.

Yes you are both right, Quicken is no longer supported in the UK. I used to use it quite happily until I bought a new PC and realised I had lost my installation CD. So I did a fair bit of research and went with Moneydance. This is shareware (about £10) and does pretty much all that Quicken did. It's not quite so pretty but I believe you are guaranteed free updates for life and a good support network too. It works for me and I am happy with it.0

Thanks for the reply. Does this moneydance integrate with UK banks? It'd just be good to minimize on the data entry and focus more on the future projections and current cash flow.

It looks like most UK banks will sadly not integrate with MoneyDance for true online banking. I have checked the MoneyDance support pages and they advise users to verify with their banks if they support a direct OFX connection, so I am just about to do this with my own banks now (Barclays and Abbey), will let you know when I find out.
What MoneyDance will do however is import files from banks - you have to export the data from your bank account online to do this.
And I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I successfully imported all my Quicken accounts for the last few years into MoneyDance, this worked without a hitch.0 -
Hi. I've looked at moneydance, and it looks good for its small size. Does the free trial actually allow you to use the entire product or is it a locked down version (as opposed to time limited)?
I'm on holiday at the moment and a friend I met here said he'll allow me to try out Money 2007 on his computer so I can see how accessible it is for me. So it'll be a choice between those two.

Hi Hussein
Just checked the MoneyDance website and it says:
We proudly offer a trial version of Moneydance so you can test it out before you purchase. The trial version is fully-functional and allows you to import data and manually enter 100 transactions before registering.
Hope this helps

I have now heard back from both Barclays and Abbey, and neither bank supports a direct OFX connection, they are not fully compatible with MoneyDance. But they will both allow you to export a file of your transactions that can be imported into MoneyDance.0
