green stuff on fence
I need to paint my fence but it has a green tinge to it on some places, not exactly moss, but you probably know what I mean.
Should I wash my fence with weak bleach in the hope that it will shift it, or should I just slap on the Ronseal fence and shed paint?

If you're painting it you should make some attempt to clean the fence otherwise your're applying the paint to what's on the surface of the wood instead of the wood itself.0

You can often remove the green with a stiff brush, though it will be a messy job so wear old clothes.0

Just looked at a can of shed and fence treatment that I had knocking about and it says use an anti fungicidal treatment. Never used it myself, just gave it a good scrubbing with a wire brush has JulieM suggests. In my experience, it always goes greenish after a couple of years especially on North facing surfaces, (that's how boy scouts manage to navigate their way out of forests).
You could always use a green coloured treatment and then it wouldn't show up so much.0 -
I use Jeyes Fluid it takes all the green off0
