Been quoted £ 3k for effectively
overbed storage ( 5 compartments)
2 bedside cabinets with alcove units joining up to overbed storage
fitted double wardrobe
fitted chest of drawers
Are we being cheapskates but £ 3k seems an awful lot for what we would be getting?
How do Sharps compare in quality to say MFI which clearly seem much cheaper going by online prices.

Somewhere else around here I posted my nightmare with this company.
In summary:-
They rang with a delivery date they had chosen - nobody would have been home.
They rang with a fitting date they had chosen - nobody would have been home. We had told the salesman when we wanted it fitted, he had agreed and we had booked time off work.
The fitter made a complete mess of the job. He cut things wrong and tried to hide damage by sticking bits on. We had to give him screws for the handles because he didn't have any with him. A two day job took four days and even then it was awful.
They agreed to send another fitter to put things right but they sent the wrong replacement parts which were left in our garden as they delivered when no-one was home despite assuring us they would deliver after a certain time.
Once the right parts arrived we sat in all day waiting for the fitter who didn't turn up.
Eventually, months after it had all started, a fitter turned up, took most of the construction down and rebuilt it.
They issued the guarantee for the date the original fitter completed the work, not the date it was completed to our satisfaction. They did however amend it after I wrote to them.
As a result of all of this, we refused to pay the balance until they agreed a reduction in the price agreed as we did not get the service we paid for. Eventually they accepted our offer and we settled the amount at a good sum less than the original price which with hindsight was overinflated anyway. We also didn't get the same trimmings as those on the fittings in the store and had to argue about that.
(For anyone who has seen my story about the kitchen, yes it does sound similar. This is why we have never ventured down the road of using these companies again. For us it was twice bitten)0 -
had a bedroom done a few years ago in my old house couldnt fault them.. everything was done great, even the fitter was brill and was much better quality than mfi.. dont know how much they have changed since getting it done thoughThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Got a bedroom fitted in October. High quality job and left us with enough spare pieces to add to it if and when. Fitter was excellent and worked from 8am to 7pm to complete the job in 3 days rather than 4. very impressed with the quality of the materials as well as the fitting. delivered and fitted within 4 weeks of ordering.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. I am in the trade and sharps unless they have changed fit frontals and not complete units. the quality of the units is definately mediocre, as some of these posts suggest a good fitter can do, wonders silk purse and sows ear. There are much much better quality bedrooms out there for similar money but otherwise go for a cheapie0

We had an Avanti bedroom over 2 years ago. Two double robes, bridging unit over the bed with four doors and lights beneath, two bedside cabinets (drawers), headboard, mirror, dressing table with drawers and hole for your knees and I think it was just over £2000.
It still looks fantastic the only grump we have is one of the screw holes where the door fits has gone big and the door is drooping. Apart from this we are really pleased with it.0 -

Can you recommend any please that we could contact.
Also any idea who supplies Sharps? I gather they subcontract fitters. If we got our own fitter ( already have someone in mind), where could they get Sharps materials? (Oslo maple range)0 -

Thanks BJ.
I had never heard of them. Quickly googled and found this
http://www.avantikb.co.uk/. Is this the right one?
At the time, did you compare the quality with Sharps? Comparable?
Went back to the Sharps showroom yesterday and still really like the look of what we were quoted for. I just don't like sales reps plucking figures in the air.
£ 9000 reduced to £3000. Does he think I was born yesterday?0 -
Sharps manufacture their own doors and carcasses and won't allow self fit so you have to use their own fitters. they do garuntee the fitting as well as the furniture though. I've had my room for 4 years and it's still looking fabulous.0

sharps belong to the moben kitchen cowboy outfit. and the dolphin shysters.
that should tell you an awfull lot.
we bought this present house with 3 sharps fitted bedrooms. after 8 yrs they are falling to bits. unless they have change quality, they are very mediocre.
give me BQ/wickes cheapies anyday.
ps.
anyone who reduces a price by 6k deserves to get thrown out.
if a little old lady accepts the 9k quote, what does that tell you about the companies ethics?Get some gorm.0
