Bravo!!!! :T:T:T How brave of you to make that statement! Far too often I have witnessed/heard/read of parents who do not know how to "enjoy" being with their children and see it as a chore/obligation/sufferage!!!!YORKSHIRELASS wrote: »... - there is a difference between grudgingly entertaining them and actually enjoying being with them and having fun together.
I've had the priviledge of enjoying my (younger two) children's company, valuing it, and letting playtime unfold to their abilities (not imposed ones) yet still maintaining boundaries of acceptable behaviour.
I have many regrets that I wasn't able to "enjoy" my eldest 3 as much. But then, I'm grateful that I "learned" before it was too late. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the good times with my eldest 3 - just didn't handle the not-so-good times as well as I thought I would; nonetheless, learned and didn't repeat the same mistakes with my youngest 2.
Despite any regrets, I have enjoyed all of my children and their perspectives/insights/delights/fun and sense of humour.
Yes, do make the most of enjoying them ... and never begrudge a minute: tempus fugit

we had a playscheme in the summer near us fun times. Eating junk from a tuck shop mainly. Playing races with other kids in the street and making certificates for the fastest. we made jam once with a load of blackberries that hadnt been debugged and smashed em up with a large lump of splintery wood. we were of course barred from eating it lol. Happy rather grubby times.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

Oh I remember making perfume with rose petals too.
We also used to ride our bikes everywhere and were never bored either.
Used to get up and watch The Banana Splits while having breakfast, then off out to meet my mates, back home for lunch ..or eat at whoever's house we were and back out until tea time.0 -

Can I join the "making perfume from rose petals" group?

We made dens; played in the nearby park; rode our bikes around the streets; tried to master rollerskating; had swordfights (cardboard swords); made bows & arrows from twigs and string ...
I used to make my own magazines too (handwritten, cut-out photos) and send them to my cousin who'd send me her creations.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

We used to ride our bikes lot's, play houses on the building site across the road. Pick weed's thinking my mum would love my wildflower bouquet's.
My folk's discovered I'd done a lovely picnic for the neighbour's kid's (digestive biccies & jam) when they developed the film in the camera only to find a load of photos of us posing for photos around the bin using the bin lid as a plate for out jammy biscuit's.
I also loved the rainy day's when mum would help us make a tent using sheet's draped over chairs etc.Booo!!!0 -
We made go carts out of pram wheels and pieces of wood, with someones washing line used to steer it...health and safety would go mad today...lol
Out our back was a row of garages and the end one was always empty, so we used to climb on the roof and drop down a rotted hole to play in there....we used to be so quiet when our Mums came out to call us in so they never knew until one day someone had the bright idea of lighting a fire and we smoked ourselves out...lol;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0
