Is is possible to get a cheap laptop with a reasonable sized screen (by cheap I mean sub £200)
It doesn't need to be super-dooper, whizzy whizzy as it'll largely be used for internet browsing, email, word processing etc. OS is not important....
Before anyone says why not get a netbook? I've got one as my main system at the moment and whilst I love the battery life the small screen is starting to drive me a bit mental....

Does it have to be a new one? There are some places sell reconditioned ones.
Like these - I don't know how suitable they are for your needs though - just an example.

I'm not keen on buying electricals off ebay tbh, unless VERY cheap.
I hadn't thought of re-conditioned that is a VERY good idea.Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
1) its new, not recon (the 2nd one which I recommend)
2) Its not some random seller, its the currys_pc world ebay account.
I know the shop doesn't get much credit on here, but the ebay account is fine. And they do !!!!!! you about, you have paypal on your side.
If anyone can spot a brand new dual core 15" laptop for under £200, I'm all ears.0 -

I'm with jaydee on this one - I've just fixed a dropped modena m201 (screen bit the dust from the impact) for a friend's teenage daughter and have to say I was quite impressed with it, ESPECIALLY for the price. £206 is a bit of a bargain for that spec, and the display feels bigger than it is....I kept looking at it and thinking it was a 17" job

I haven't looked at bigpockets for a while (have bought from them in the past) and they look to have some good machines in at the moment. All I would say though, is that a new lappy with 12 month guarantee and a new battery is well worth the extra £15-30 over the price/spec currently at bigpockets IMHO
