ive recieved many "chargebacks" on my debit card without asking for them...

Im looking for a bit of help. Its a bit confusing but i'll try explain as best as I can....

I have a visa debit card for my current account. At my work place I have been buying goods, just like I have for many years since working there. It is a huge company and where staff buy products most days. Somehow tho, over the last few weeks around half of the transactions/payments are coming back into my account as "chargebacks".

What should I do? Where do I stand?

I 100% havent done anything untoward or different. I am using the same card as I always have, and ofcourse I have not asked my bank to do a chargeback.

Obviously it is nice to recieve the funds back into my account, theres no point pretending... but who is paying me these funds?? my bank? visa debit? or worst of all - my employer?

For example :
The transaction would go throu on the 1st of the month, on statements is says - (companyname/dateoftransaction/amount) then x amount is taken. Then the next day or a few days later it comes back and says (companyname/dateoftransaction/amount/"chargeback") annd the funds are put back into my account as if by magic.

In effect I am buying goods - money being taken - money put back in - goods therefore free.

Am I liable to pay back? should I confess?

aarrgh!!! any advise/input/help appreciated!!

AFAIK chargeback means that your bank has taken the money that you had paid back from the suppliers. Ask your bank what is happening.

I wonder if it was objecting to the extent that a personal account was being used for business purposes and recalling payments that it had not pre-authorised.

If you do nothing the suppliers are obviously going to come after you at some stage so don't spend the money.

Ring the bank and ask why they have been issued.

Unlikely. If the bank objected to such then they would just give notice to close the account. This is far more work for them.
