Any cheap deals for a single traveller to New York end of August?

Hi there.

I know I've left it a bit late, but I have the last 11 days of August off work and I *really* want to go to New York. I'd be travelling alone, and ideally would like to stay in Downtown Manhattan, Times Square or near the southern part of Central Park.

After various searches, flights and a hotel seem to amount to around £1500 total, which is a little beyond my budget, so I just wondered if anyone was aware of any deals or special offers/promotions currently?

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Just had the brief'ist of looks on expedia and you could do 22nd to 26th Aug and stay close to times sq and fly ba for £1100, hell you could even have the potential of waving at me as i'll be there at the same time!! or stay on 51st at the pod hotel and its £800 with ba flights and dont forget quidco and nectar points too

Its kinda hard to compare your price as you have'nt said how long you would be staying for your quoted £1500

    Thanks for your reply.

I should have added that I would like to be there from 19th - 29th Aug, so 10 days.

Grateful for the reminder of Quidco and Nectar - I would've completely forgotten about those!

£1500 for 10days in NY is cheap as chips, however the end of Aug is the low season, as its soooooooo hot in the city.

A quick look comes up with £1400 staying at the pod hotel and flying with BA though.

Another quick point is 10 days is a long time in NY, its not a relaxing place to be really, i prefer my 5 day trips to go and have my fix and then get out and have a few days off when I get home to recover, but each to their own.

I would recommend having a look at expedia/last minute etc etc and then checking the reviews of the hotels on tripadvisor, or pop back on here and ask, however you will get more responses if you post in the NY thread at the top of the page
