If your partner earns 30k I dont think you will get much help. Do you currently get Tax Credits?

Then you need to ring them and tell them - you may be entitled to a small amount.

You wont get any other help because of your partners income.

I was made redundant in Jan whilst on Mat leave. My partner earns in excess of £30k and regardless of this I was able to claim JSA at £65 per week for 6 months. After 6 months it becomes means tested and I wouldnt be entitled to it any more. Has certainly filled a small gap whilst I looked for suitable employment!

Thats great, Thank you for your help!!
  • I thought you were still entitled to SMP if you are made redundant whilst on mat leave, because I am currently on mat leave myself and my job is at risk so I looked into it all and remember this being the case

You are - and when I was made redundant I was paid my SMP in one lump sum along with my redundancy pay and notice (they paid my notice at SMP rates!!!!)

You get taxed on lump sum SMP as well. The company can choose to continue paying your SMP monthly, keeping you on the payroll, but most dont.
