alliance trust?

Just about to set up an alliance trust account so I can hold stocks and shares / ISA and funds in the one place. But they charge £30 admin fee for the stocks and shares ISA. Is that reasonable? Seems pretty steep but I have seen them highly recommended on this forum before.

Try one of the fund warehouses that operate internet accounts.
Interactive Investor.
The Share Centre.
BestInvest.
Fidelity & many more.
These usually do not charge for a S&S ISA. The only charges are for transactions.0 -
See this thread for a splendid comparison of various S&S providers.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
The £30 charge is quite reasonable. I've seen others with much higher charges.
Be very careful when looking at providers charges and benefits. For example, I used to hold an Invesco Stocks and Shares ISA, for which I was charged a significant 'initial charge' (something in the region of 4% of my ISA allowance, which is considerably higher than £30). In addition, the AMC was 1.5% which ate into my investment returns.
The majority of platform S&S ISA providers now offer 0% initial charges, which is nice.
In your case, if its funds you're after, I've heard the Alliance S&S ISA rebates something like 0.75% each year on the value of your fund holdings....0
