What DVD-R Should I Get?

Hi,
Could someone advise me on what dvd-r's i need to get. I don't understand the difference between the dye's?
I have a £5 play.com voucher (From Domino's) that I need to use by tonight.

What are better out of these (3 for 2)

Maxell DVD-R 50pk Spindle: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/STTS2/3-/...e/Product.html

Sony DVD-R Recordable 50pk: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/RTS/3-/90...k/Product.html

Thanks in advance, any others?

Daniel

The links to Play don't work, but from what I searched for on there I would go with the Sony ones.

It's impossible to tell really without knowing what dyes they have (probably why many people buy from SVP), but from looking on videohelp.com, you're more likely to get a decent dye with a Sony disc!
  • +1 for verbatim

also IF you can use either format + is better than -
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

    danzeg,

If you're looking for discs in the future (and don't have a Play voucher burning a hole in your pocket!), as mentioned previously verbatim discs are generally very good.

As far as dyes go, Taiyo Yuden ones are normally seen as the best.

Personally, I've gone off verbatim discs as they keep producing batches with cheaper dyes, and recently I've been sticking with Panasonic ones.

Either way, somewhere like svp will tell you what dyes you are getting, and if you sign up for their newsletter you can buy in bulk when they let you know about the next cheap postage period.
