    How you get to work is your business, even if it's at the 'other' location. When you're at the 'other' location, your employer reimburses 'reasonable' expenses. ATM that's capped at your train fare, if you were driving yourself then you could claim mileage, and the reasons for that have been explained at length already.

    If your father's kind enough to make two journeys, that's his business. The employer doesn't care. And I'm quite sure your father understands that this is how the world of work works!

    My point is that if I'm paid to start work at 9.00am, I should arrive in good time to have a chat with colleagues, use the facilities, prepare a drink etc, but not sit down at my desk and start to log-on to my till until the time my 'working shift' starts, i.e. 9.00am.

    As I've said earlier, 15 minutes unpaid work here and there may seem trivial, yet working unpaid for 15 mins each side of your shift per day equates to an additional 17 days worked per year for a remuneration of precisely £0.00.

    Some people seem to be suggesting that I'd rather not work at the other location - sorry if I have implied this.
    I actually prefer working at the other location (better atmosphere, quieter, nicer people etc), I was just asking if I should be paid the extra time it takes me to travel from my base to the other office.

    IMO, No. The only way you would be "paid" (I am deliberately excluding the question/issue of travel expenses from the definition of paid) for the travel between the Saturday branch and the other branch would be if you were sent to the other branch after having already started working in the Saturday branch - i.e. part way through the working day.

    If you are travelling directly from home to the other branch to start work there then this is not working time, it is commuting time and you are not entitled to be "paid" for this.
