ESA Reassessment rate

Hi. I'm currently on ESA in the Work Related Activity Group for mental health issues. I was awarded ESA back in January and according to the letter i received i am due a reassessment in October this year. My questions are.....will i continue to be paid at the £94.25 for the expected 3 month reassessment period while i wait for my reassessment medical or will it drop down to the £67.50 - the amount i originally got as i started my claim last October. I hope i have explained this clearly.....this is one of my first posts and am a little nervous. Also for the reassessment period will i have to send in "fit notes" as i did when i originally started my ESA claim. I hope i have explained clearly and if i have not then i am happy to try again. Dave, Sunderland.

You will continue to receive your current rate until a new Decision is made, at the end of the re-assessment process, after that it will either continue dependant on which group you are in or cease if you fail the assessment. In the case of the latter, you can appeal and receive the Assessment rate.dodgydave69 wrote: »Hi. I'm currently on ESA in the Work Related Activity Group for mental health issues. I am not on ESA so can't answer but I do think you will get the full rate during reassessment as you have already had your initial assessment, but I am not too sure.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

Should continue to get same rate until new decision is made.. and obviously it will stay same after decision if that decision is WRAG. There won't be a 're-assessment period' or assessment period as such unlike when you first applied when there was one of 3 months. They're literally doing another WCA to determine entitlement to remain on the main phase and if still entitled, then into which of the 2 groups. The frequency of such re-assessments will be determined largely by prognosis they have. If you attend medical then the report will contain a prognosis saying how long it could be before a return to work can be considered. You won't need to send in any sick notes because you have already proven entitlement to the main phase of the benefit which will continue unless, or until, you fail a WCA re-assessment. Should you fail then of course you can appeal and then your payments and need to supply sick notes would likely change."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0
