Reclaiming PPI for a deceased

Options
Hi, can anybody advise whether you can claim PPI for a dead person - I know it sounds strange but my husband was recently killed but he wanted to reclaim the PPI he had on a loan with Lloyds Bank.
Any help is really appreciated - Thanks

    Hello and welcome

I am so so sorry to hear of the sad loss of your beloved husband.

Just a thought, but was this loan in joint names? (Did you both sign up for the loan, but the PPI was only for you're husband)?

I understand if this is the case, then you maybe able to make a reclaim.

I am sure someone will know the correct answer here, but otherwise you could try by emailing Lloyds as on the email address below, and explain on what you're husband's intention was.

Wishing you luck on this x

Sorry to hear of your loss x.
Is the loan still running? as the amount owing be more than the actual ppi paid?,this ppi could have had life insurance on,and if the loan is still running this ppi will pay it off.

If the loan is paid off, then do as Di and Fight the power have said.

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

Having recently been in hospital following a nasty road accident myself it makes me realise (again) how fortunate I have been.

That said - yes the complaint can still be submitted by the estate. You need to make clear that you are acting on behalf of the estate and ordinarily any redress would become an asset of the estate and, presumably, pass to you in due course.

This does not mean an automatic payout - the bank is entitled to consider the merits of the complaint. However, if it rejects it you should normally be entitled to refer the matter to FOS.
  • Hi and thanks to all of you for your condolences and your help - my husband had paid the loan off abt 30 months ago and then took out another without PPI because he felt it was a rip-off and then in March he was killed and I had to pay the outstanding loan off because of no PPI - sods law really - so I will lodge a claim for both his earlier loan and his credit card which he hadn't used for abt 2 years but was £3.00 in credit - because he liked the idea of the bank owing him for a change.
Again - thank you all so much

Thank you - two operations in two different hospitals and on crutches/zimmer frame for 3 months but clearly could have been a lot worse.
