You might as well go to the Costa Brava. Cancun is just a crap resort catering for people who want to say they have been to Mexico but not realy visited the place. sorry.

We went to cancum in december 2 years ago and loved it

ask anyone who has been and they will tell you to go

the yanks all go there because it has the best stretch of beach and sea in the carribean. Turquiose blue water .

dirt cheap for the buses here and there . mostly hotels along the stretch
bars are full every night .

one thing they usually dont tell you before you go is it costs you 60 dollars (ish)to get out of the country . make a note as many are skint by the time they get to the airport to leave.

Friend at work went with his girlfiriend last year for two weeks. Didn't leave the hotel compound but didn't want or need to. Had an all-inclusive deal and had a great time.

For exactly this reason, DON'T go to Cancun all-inclusive. There are many great bars and restaurants - activities a-plenty, and some great historic sites to visit. As Mr Warren intimated, it is the Spanish Costa equivalent for Americans, but don't let that put you off - it is a fantastic holiday destination.

If all you want is caribbean warmth, and an all-inclusive hotel complex that you don't set foot outside then go to Dominican Republic - its cheaper, takes less time to get there and if you ain't leaving the hotel anyway, then you won't notice the difference.
