Thanks - didn't think of that. He s at least twice the size of the other cat tho about 3 times older so maybe weight won out? They are both very long haired ginger and white cats and look quite alike apart from their relative size.

He is lying under a bush in the garden at the moment trying to keep cool - must be so hot in that big fur coat of his!

so glad he is ok - bites can abcess and cause a lot of problems if not treated early! even a mild salt wash can help prevent infection if applied straight away.

I've used salt wash out many times over the years - my cats regularly scrap with local farm cats, and also get bitten by prey that doesn't want to be dinner.

Rarely does anything turn nasty if you give it a good wash out several times a day if possible (often infeasible for me as the cats won't be shut in).

Glad he's back to his old self.
