The best of luck with your journey ~ I too want to be debt free by 29!
Love it that your OH is embarrassed about the picking up of coppers. I make it into a game for my children and then it gets saved. I also quite like the saying as everyone can always do with a little bit more luck in this world.0 -
It makes me giggle too Novagirl. I found 2p in the grass on Tuesday, I was very pleased, they're so nice and big! I took great delight in describing my find to my boyfriend.
In other money saving news my stack of houmous from Tesco has 20p off this week so it's only £1! The same block of cheese I bought for £1.63 two weeks ago had gone up to £1.88 though so I bought 2 for £3. I am still coming to terms with spending £3 on cheese.Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Haha I get like that - want to keep my grocery bills to the minimum, so the thought of spending a lot (ie more than a quid) on one thing puts me right off!!
I need to get better at bulk buying that sort of things when I actually have the money just after being paid!

Good luck with it all - I'm 28 and hoping to be (mostly) debt free by 29 too, 9 months to the day!0

Good luck to you too Trudiuk - I've only recently appreciated how quickly 25 - 30 goes in life, hoping I haven't cottoned on too late.

So, I have been on holiday again, a family holiday which only cost me £250 for accomodation with all food and drink so not too bad and I couldn't very well drop out by announcing I'd had a lightbulb moment, I'd have got some funny looks. Over the week I spent £96 which I consider a success when you factor in travel costs and the cost of getting into places in Britain! Walking around a ruin will set you back £6 these days it seems. I did manage to put another £4 away in my change jar so that is ticking along nicely.
Same old witterings - still don't have my deposit back, my Council Tax refund hasn't turned up yet either so feeling a bit stuck. I really want to get under the £3000 mark on the old CC but until something gives I can't do anything. I still can't wait until the middle of September when I can get going on having a normal budget and see how I get on. My ex-landlord should be back from holiday on Tuesday so I can harrass him then, this is getting very annoying.
Good news - I have almost unpacked my new flat! Bad news - knocked over a glass of coke everywhere earlier. Sigh.Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Not a great money saving week (again!), I have spent an inordinate amount in Morrisons, not all of which was entirely sensible I'm afraid. I'm hoping to have a very cheap week next week to balance it out, might have to go on a bit of a pasta binge. I spent £4 on batteries for my weighing scales, curiosity finally got the better of me, but I realise now that ignorance was bliss! I am setting myself a goal of losing a stone in the first instance, so I'll be adding that to my goals. I went for a jog tonight which went horribly, I think I'm going to have to work myself up to joining up the bits of running again. Perhaps the pasta binge is off. I also made the mistake of wasting £3.05 on an Airwick plug in air freshener to make my new flat smell less of paint - set my allergies right off.

Good things this week:-
Found 10p on the floor on the way to the cinema. My biggest find yet! OH was not quite as ecstatic as me, poor chap.
I may be one step closer to getting the deposit back, hopefully find out tomorrow.
I got 8 cans of Heinz baked beans form Morrisons for £3. I do love a baked bean.

So, one week to payday, getting very excited about the infamous mid-september payday. I didn't envision I still wouldn't have my deposit back, which is putting something of a dampner on proceedings but I'm trying to look on the bright side. My ex-landlord is still putting more and more obstacles in the way, but I am inexhaustable when it comes to getting this back so he's going to bored a lot quicker than I am! No concrete reasons of course, his latest is he has no record of cashing the cheque, so I've helpfully reminded him with evidence.
In other news the diet is getting on track somewhat, and I have managed to go 'running' 5 times in the past week. There's been some considerable stopping and starting but I'm up to 4.5k now, and I'm hoping to build it up so I can run 30mins continuously again. I'm meant to weigh myself on a Saturday but I don't have that much self control so I caved in this morning. Lost 4 pounds! :j This is particularly good as I went beserk last night and ate an unfortunate amount of hob nobs. I can't be left alone with chocolate biscuits it seems.
My credit card is STILL at £3300, but I'm hoping to get some movement on this when I get paid. I'm quietly pleased with myself because I haven't spent anything on it this month for the first time in years, and I'm £100 under my overdraft limit having spent £120 on train travel for the next couple of months! This would have been straight on Mr Barclaycard before my LBM.Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Had a bad bad day today, which I'm recording in the hope if this happens again I will not go down the same path. Woke up and weighed myself, had somehow gained a pound over night which set the scene for the day that followed. I KNOW I should only be weighing myself once a week and yet I cannot help myself. I'm seriously considering asking OH to take the battery out (which let's face it I won't be spending £4 to get myself a sneaky spare) and only give it back to me on a Saturday morning.
I got myself into a complete rage last night about the whole deposit situation, I'm so sick of not being able to get it back and pay something off my debts. I felt really out of control and conversely went out today and spent £45 on the flaming credit card! I honestly don't understand why I do these things. It's like eating a biscuit, deciding the day has been lost and eating everything else in the house, which I've certainly done in the past.
I need to get back to focussing on my goals but just needed a good whinge (only one person in real life knows I have debts). I didn't go for a run today either.
The only real positive of the day is that no chocolate was involved... some kind of miracle all things considered. Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

A quick update after all my misery gutsing yesterday - my ex-landlord has now emailed me to say he sent my cheque to my Mum's address on Saturday! If only I'd known there might not have been the unfortunate chain of events that went on yesterday. :j
In other good news the big tins of sweets are in Tesco so this means Christmas is definitely around the corner, and my houmous stack was reduced for quick sale today to 89p!
I've cheered up considerably.

Time for the old weekly update - first to the ongoing deposit saga, the cheque has not turned up! The first few days when it didn't arrive I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach but I've got past that now. Now I'm just very annoyed and ready to harrass my ex-landlord everyday until this is sorted out. I'm going to offer to go round to his house and pick it up - I think at this point I'm being reasonable. It is possible the Royal Mail have failed me, but I'm suspicious.
I've managed to lose a whole pound this week, which I don't think is reflective of the effort put in. I think I'm going to have to put it down to the mysterious muscle gain people are always talking about. That'll be it.
I've been paid and haven't touched a penny yet - first time in years I haven't had to take money out straight away. I owe my mum money though and I can't get going on the repayments until I've sorted the deposit out. I will update my signature as soon as I've made some kind of move.
Found 6p in 2ps this week, so very pleased about that. Pushed past the £40 mark this week in my closed pot as well, so not all bad news.
