sainsbury mispricings. Just pay back the difference

Went to sainsbury today and bought a couple of items and they had overcharged me at the checkout. Went to the CS and told them all they did is give me back the difference. Does anyone know if they have no policy like Tesco's where they refund the money and you may keep the item? Wasn't very happy as one of the items came up as £5 and was only £0.75 so if I hadn't spotted it they make a killing out of customers that don't see this.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Sainsburys do not have a policy like Tesco's0

This happens on such a regular basis at sainsbury's with marked-down goods that me and the OH seriously think they have an unofficial policy for checkout operators to ignore every third or fourth yellow sticker. On the basis that people will be too embarrassed to look tight by going back and demanding the difference.
Newsflash: I'm never too embarrassed! On the basis that most of the time, if it was full price I wouldn't have bothered buying it...0 -
Hi soccergoods.
I've moved this thread over to the Shop But Don't Drop board where most discussions about supermarket shopping etc are based. You might find more answers over here, although as far as I know, Tesco is the only supermarket to offer the Refund and Replace policy.0 -
I used to work for Sainsburys. Cashiers don't ignore the tickets on purpose, but if they've not been stuck on the barcode properly they're easy to miss, especially when it's busy and also now I believe cashiers have to scan a certain number of items per minute so they'll probably be rushing.
There's no official R&R policy - but I used to work on Customer Services and sometimes I'd give someone a little extra for the inconvenience, such as a couple of pounds of vouchers, or extra points. Not if they were rude to me thoughAmazon sellers club - member number 63.

Your deal was not as bad as mine!!!
Gone to Sainsbury and baught 10 Sony DVD/RW, shelf price was £6.99 on sale down to £2.99, box was a little ripped but was last on the shelf so for the deal I bought it anyway.
When I got to the checkout, to my annoyance and everyone else behind me, the discount did not come off so I told the cashier who pressed the buzzer for assistance and after waiting too long (when all yese are on you because you are causing a nuisance...) the assistant/supervisor let it go through at £2.99.
Hold up is not finished the best is yet to come.
I go home and open the box, opened the first CD case and .............................................................
..............is empty....open another and.......is empty.....THEY ARE ALL EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
£2.99 for 10 empty CD cases good deal for Sainsbry I say!!
Good job I needed the DVD straight away and I still have the receipt. So I ll go on Tuesday and let you know what excuse they are going to have for me0 -

It would be very easy to them to do something like never do anything about cashiers scanning the barcode that charge more but warn them they'll get in trouble if they void and rescan items (ie. scan the correct barcode). So the cashier is indirectly encouraged to overcharge customers but leave themselves as the scapegoat.
Not saying S do this but I think a lot of companies do things like this.0 -
And the moral of the story is - always check the receipt. I'm forever being overcharged in sainsburys.
Without fail there is always a roll of the eyes when I mention it to customer services and request a refund. I wouldn't have to trouble you if I hadn't been overcharged in the first place, now would I?0 -
I don't want to put a dampner on this but are you sure that you did not buy DVD cases as opposed to DVD discs? What does it say on the box? There is always light within the dark0
