The DM is still referring to these invoices as 'fixed penalty notices' or 'fines'.

I think anyone pulling that sort of carp, should have restrictions placed on their licence to stop them driving anything other that scrotty old city cars.
Having a large "prestige" motor really goes to some peoples heads!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sick. He should be in prison for at least 5 years, and be banned from driving for life.
If he'd gone at the warden with a knife he'd probably be doing a good amount of prison time. Attack someone with a car and it's just a slap on the wrist and a short break from driving.0 -
Obviously the driver didn't realise that the 'ticket' was unenforceable, and he could ignore it completely. As a result of his actions, he will spend some time behind bars."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Why do cases like these get dealt with as driving offences?
He is clearly using his car as a weapon, so why not charge him with assault with a dangerous weapon or something similar?
IMHO driving offences should only apply when the car is being used for its intended purpose.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
If he had killed the warden, what then?
This should be a case of assault or GBH and dealt with accordingly.0 -

Or even attempted murder. Six months is pathetic. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
IMHO six months and a ban from driving seems fair in this case. Ultimately, it was dangerous driving but as stated in the article was out of character for the individual concerned. Courts don't hand down sentences based on "what ifs". That just wouldn't work.
What seems rather strange is that the driver has been told to take an extended driving test. This to me seems bizarre, as a moment of road rage doesn't make you forget how to drive a car, neither is a second driving test going to make the individual any less likely to do it again in the future. A longer ban would have been more appropriate.0 -
Several previous convictions are not out of character?0

I think the charge of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent is pretty close to "what if."The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
these days we'd be lucky to see someone who battered half to death someone with a baseball bat pinch his car crash it into police vehicles and end up causing damage to ther people cars in the process do that sort of time. and no wonder minor offence's has taken the cells up.0
