DFS Sofa Too Big

Hi Guys
I'm looking for some help?
We have had a suite delivered today which is for a loft room. The suite fits the dimensions of the room, however, when trying to take it up the staircase it's being caught on the bottom step and won't fit.
The store manager has told the delivery driver to leave the 2 armchairs and bring back the sofa bed. We now have to go into the store to choose a replacement sofa bed with detachable arms so that they can get it up the staircase.
The issue is they won't allow us to return the armchairs too and buy a new suite, so effectively we'll have 2 armchairs from one range and a sofabed from another.
We are happy to exchange for a new full suite but don't wan't to be left with mismatched furniture.
Any advice would be appreciated - we have to go into the store to see the manager this evening.

If purchased in store they are under no legal requirements to return or exchange any items if not faulty.0

You are lucky they're taking away the sofa and allowing you to have another one, as many stores will just leave it with you, as it's your responsibility to make sure it fits.
Have you offered to pay for all the return and new delivery, and buy something more expensive instead?!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
wonder if the manager is leaving the two seats behind as collateral to ensure you dont try to get out of the deal completely.
Go in store and see what he says - if you openly agree you'll take an alternative then I would expect they would make an effort - I cant imagine its easier to shift two seats versus two seats and sofa set.0 -
Went into the store this evening and spoke to several staff and the manager - they couldn't be more helpful and we have now ordered a different suite and the armchairs will be collected later on this week.
I think you were right visidigi and the 2 armchairs were just left as collateral.0 -

If youve had good service and are happy with it, why not name the store please.

Why on Earth would they do that? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
