Fakro blinds without metal bits

Options
Hi everyone,

I have two fakro skylights in a bedroom, and I need blinds for them.

I found some blackout ones which I ordered from Vale Blinds website but when they arrived they had ugly metal bits all round them, which made it look like an office not a bedroom, so I sent them back thinking I could get others.

However, I can't find any which do not have aluminium round them. The windows are natural wood and look really nice and I don't want to spoil that. I've been into several blind shops and they have all told me the same - that they all have aluminium surrounding the blind.

Does anyone have any ideas please? Are there blinds with a "wooden surround" Or is it simply not possible to keep the wood-look?

Many thanks,
T

Fakro do their own blinds, was it those you got? There does need to be a channel to hold the blind in place, their ones did not look that chunky to me.

We have a big Velux skylight in our dining room, with a venetian blind fitted, it looks similar, and I don't think it looks bad at all.

    Thanks Jackie,

the ones I got were actually Vale's own version of the FAkro ones, but I have to say that I made an assumption they were all the same. The ones in the picture in your link have a much smaller aluminium bit than the ones I bought. Will look into that. Thanks.

Yep, our aluminium bits are quite slim. I think these places offer a cheaper solution, but as you have found, it is not necessarily as good!
