talk talk keep taking their money to early

ok so we have the talk talk package of internet and phone line.
it was all fine until they have decided to keep taking their money early. they never give me a full statement and never listen over the phone. because of this i keep getting charged £20 in bank charges etc in total. is there any thing i can do other then just giving this company the boot? and if i get to the bottom of this issue is there any way i can re-claim the charges?

Exactly what did talktalk originally tell you about when they'd send you bills and when they would take payments? Exactly what have they been doing lately?

If talktalk haven't properly notified you of an impending debit, your can require your bank to refund it, immediately, no questions asked, under the direct debit guarantee. Whether your bank also has to refund consequential interest and charges is less clear, but in practice most banks will.

It's then up to talktalk either (1) to re-claim the right amount on the right day, or (2) ask you to pay by other means, or (3)argue with you that they were right to take the payment when they did, and they are going to invoke additional charges in the fine print of their terms and conditions.
Alternatively, you can email talktalk here:

Head your email COMPLAINT. Say as calmly as you can what you believe they originally promised, and what they have in fact done. Politely demand that they do it right in future, and compensate you for your bank charges.

    Hi sabrina_g,

the best course of action is to register at www.talktalkmembers.com and one of my colleagues will investigate this for you.

I wouldn't use the email contact form if you want a prompt response.

When setting up Direct Debits you need to be quite careful because if you tell them you want to pay on the 1st of each month they will apply for the money from your account from about the 28th or 29th as it takes a few days to be transfered accross. Hence why, i suspect, they are taking your money too soon. Remedy this by setting up a date a few days after you actually want the money to leave your account. Hope this helps :)
