Hi I don't know if anyone can help, but here goes.
My house has just been sold and completes in about 6 weeks time, due to arrears on the mortgage cos my ex never helped with payments I have a really bad credit rating. I am on a low income because i work part time so I can look after my kids.
I am trying to do private rental but estate agents won't touch me because I have a low credit rating and no guarentor.
Council won't touch me because I am becoming homeless on purpose!!
What am I supposed to do!

Have evidence that you can easily afford the rent even if it means paying six months-worth upfront.0

Will you get ANY money from the sale of the house?? I know you are in arrears with the mortgage, but is there equity that you'll get some of? In which case, Bitterandtwisted's suggestion of rent up-front is probably your best bet. Do you have a local paper that has listings for private landlords instead of going through an agent? Do you have friends or family you could stay with in the transition from moving out of your house to finding somewhere else? I appreciate that's not so easy if you have children.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
