Hi,
From January I will be earning £47000 per annum, I have a daughter and 2 step kids. Will I lose the allowance for all 3 or just for my daughter?

At the moment no one really knows what will be happening with Child Benefit for higher rate taxpayers.
It won't be coming in before 2013. If it goes ahead in its current form, then you would lose all child benefit for any child you claim it for.

I think it is totally unfair to penalise one person and take the child benefit away if they are earning 44,000, however, a couple can both earn just below 44,000 (potentially having 88,000 per year) and still claim child benefit - that just doesn't seem right.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

I agree - it seems bonkers and another way to punish single parents.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -

Yes, if they are going to introduce a limit you can earn before child benefit is taken off you, then for couples it should go as total income - their excuse that it would mean means testing it is ridiculous, because they are effectively already going to do that with the 44k limit.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0
