Things to do in London with a 14yo boy

Options
My brother, 14, is coming up from Somerset to visit me in London for the weekend and I'm struggling to figure out what to do with him. We've done the Dungeon and the Eye before, the Trocadero is only good for a couple of hours, and I think he did the Science/Natural History museums with school fairly recently.

He likes games, football, music and likely many other things that teenagers like. Naturally, he hates being bored.

I was hoping scratching my head might help but I've got nothing. Any suggestions?

It might be too busy this weekend with the summer holidays but my 14 year old daughter and friends love Thorpe Park (Theme park). It is a pretty easy drive from London or you can go via train from Waterloo and pick up the shuttle bus to the park. She and friends like ice skating and swimming, loved the new Harry Potter movie and likes Camden Market on a Sunday. I think it is poor value for money but she likes Madam Tussauds as well as the Dungeons. If your brother likes football maybe you could look at doing a tour of Wembley Stadium or one of the other football grounds as well.

If you go to a show and not bothered about what one, see what offers tkts.com booths have, there's one in Leicester Square. You can get some good deals there.

How about a cruise on the river? Visiting Bucky Palace?

    Hows about guys & gals:

The brand new Peter Harrison Planetarium is a state-of-the-art planetarium at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. It is the centrepiece of the Royal Observatory's recent redevelopment project and is the only planetarium in London.

We just did London a few weeks back, we had 2 lads 13/16 with us, They loved the Imperial War museum, Typical spend a small fortune on the dungeon and the likes and the best outing they had was free :)
  • We went out and did a London cycle tour recently with Fat Tire Bike Tours that was great fun. There are a number of companies that do this just google 'London Cycle Tours'. They all offer a number of routes, the guides are really enthusiastic and you get to see and learn about London. Great day out, thoroughly recommended.
  • Second the Royal Observatory. The National Maritime Museum is quite good too. Or there's a great exhibition on pirates at the Musuem of London Dockyards.

If he's into history, the Tower of London is brilliant.

How about taking the ferry from Waterloo to the O2 Millenium Dome and going to the British Music Experience?

We (Myself and three 13-17 year olds) did this recently with Tesco Voucers and had lunch in O2 Pizza Express!

*Can't use Tesco vouchers in O2 Pizza Express anymore

Excellent, there are some great ideas there. Definitely think the Observatory would work for him, and the Imperial War museum might be an interesting idea to throw at him.

    Thanks all, top stuff.
