Annex Room - What does it really mean?

Hi all,
In May I booked a special offer annex room in a resort in Rhodes. According to the Fresh Holidays website this meant we were to be 'accommodated' in a 3* hotel (with a different name) and the write up, pictures, etc. were for the 4*. I also telephoned another hol company, who I was going to book with, to double check the situation and they confirmed that we would be sleeping in the 3* but would be able to use all of the facilities of the 4*. Also, after booking I received the Hotel Voucher which also clearly states that it's the annex room but has the name of the 4*.
However, a week ago I read a review on Trip Adviser that stated this was not the case once at the resort. Special offer annex room guests were expected to sleep, eat and drink in the 3* and the only facility in the 4* they were able to use was the pool. I rang Fresh holidays last week who confirmed after speaking to the hotel that annex room guests were able to use all of the 4* facilities but when I asked this to be confirmed in writing I received an email 3 days later to say that this was not the case and we weren't able to use 4* restaurants/bars.
Do you think there is anything I can do as the Fresh Hols website is very misleading and the operators selling this holiday don't know what is/is not included?
Sorry for the essay and any advice is appreciated!

We were booked in an annexe next to the actual hotel 2 years ago. It was over £100 cheaper, right next to the actual hotel but we had our meals in the hotel.
The main hotel had the entertainment, pool, facilities etc but the room, view etc was fantastic, so no problems walking next door for the meals etc
The annexe building was regarded as 3 star as opposed to the main hotel a 4 star.
I really wouldn't worry about this and enjoy your holiday.

Thanks Juniee, that is exactly what we were expecting, to sleep in the 3* room but be able to eat/drink in the 4*. However, this is not the case the hol company are now saying that we'll be in the 3* for everything. This is disappointing as I'm sure it would have been cheaper to just book the 3* and my hotel voucher says the name of the 4*!
Feel like we've been duped!0 -
I've just had a bad experience with booking an annex, even though i didn't know at the time this was so.
We were promised a tv, a mini fridge, internet in the room, etc etc but only got a room looking like a prison cell with a tiny little bathroom and nothing else.. It totally ruined our holiday, as the building was like a hostel and full of rough looking people, poor lighting, graffiti in the lifts, smelt of sick and fag, etc.
Maybe you'll be lucky and everything will be ok, but if this was a situation i once again found myself in, I'd be phoning up and cancelling/altering my booking on the grounds of false advertising, and the hotel not being as described in the booking.0 -
Absolutely, it almost feels like because we've chosen the annex room they can put us anywhere and we should put up with it.
Fair enough because we went for the special offer annex room we paid approx £100pp less, but had I known all the facilities were going to be 3* I'd have thought twice.
Up to now not a positive response from hol company but sent a letter yesterday, so will see...0
