mum 26 - Thanks for that! shall check it out.
always poor - We're in Walsall, but I recognise the places you are saying. They're 10, so I think they'd be ok at Drayton, maybe not wanting to go on the big rides but they love animals (zoo) and DM does have a few 'big' rides for the little ones.
Does anybody know of any fruit picking places? They saw blackberrys on a bush near our local woodland yesterday, and were so fascinated!0 -

Essington Fruit Farm is not too far. Not sure how you would get there on public transport though. It is just off J1 of the M54 so depending on where you are in Walsall 10-15 minutes away by car.
The fruit farm is brilliant, they have loads of different stuff and as long as you don't go overboard on the picking it doesn't have to be too pricey.
If they like swimming the baths at Bentley Bridge are excellent and have slides etc.
Also, have you done the Walsall Library? And the Public in West Brom is free and has some good exhibitions on (both permanent and visiting).
Can I ask how you got involved with hosting them? I am only up the road (just by the fruit farm
) and would be interested in doing something like this in the future.
Edit - oops, just looked at the link in the post above and I see Essington has already been suggested!please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

I'm a long way from you but how about giving your local council a call or look at the website for tourist information.
May I say that I too think you doing a wonderful thing and whatever little things you come up with, will live in their hearts forever.
Do you have a garden?
Just thinking of maybe having an outdoor parts - lots of water involved (weather permitting), or do home made camping, we used to take chairs outside and throw sheets over them. Or we sat in the garage and my big brother used to shine a torch and tell scary stories - hehe.
Another favourite was to don swimming costumes on a rainy day, and go out and play football, great fun got all muddy and mum hosed us down before we went in again to a hot chocolate - brilliant fun.
Best wishes.
