Cookies folder vanished

I have noticed on my PC that my "cookies" folder has vanished or maybe deleted by accident

What's the easiest way to create a new one as when I go to the location where it normall is I add a new folder but it says a I cannot name it cookies as it already exists but don't know if it's referring to the cookies file in the guest user account?

Comments

  • If it says its already created it must be a hidden folder, not totally sure as dont look at this folder but im pretty sure its hidden or a system folder. To see the folder just enable to see hidden files etc

Thanks, done a search but it's only found the cookie folders for "default user" and "guest"

Does it matter that you don't have a cookies folder? if I cannot create another one
  • Is all your log-on info etc getting stored? They must be getting stored somewhere if it is. You tried looking at your temporary internet files via the options on browser and seeing if cookies are stored?

Found the temp internet files, not 100% sure if the cookies are their as their is tons of stuff in the file so I will have to go through them

I recently upgraded to IE7 so dont know if the cookies file has moved since then

Looks like the cookies are stored their along with GIF and JPG images etc....

I presume from now on all my cookies will go straight into temp internet folder as their is no cookie folder?
  • Yes, cookies are stored in Temporary Internet Files folder in text file names beginning 'cookie:'.
  • Yes i think its all stored in the temporary internet files. Thats were my cookies are stored as well.
  • Actually mines are stored in the temporary internet folder and not within the temporary internet folder -> cookies.
