What are you trying to connect to what? You have started by telling us your musings on the solution, but without some idea of the problem, there is not a lot useful to say.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Exactly; tell us the problem, the current situation, and we can suggest solutions.0 -
It means 12mm comp one end and 1/2" thread the other, dependent on whether the 1/2" is followed by MI or FI, it will either be male or female fitting.0

The problem is that the OP wants to understand terminology, he doesn't need suggested solutions. G4U has answered succinctly.

It is far from clear whether OP's problem is terminology or selecting the right part for the job.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

the problem is: i have rubber water pipe that is damaged . i have measured the pipe and its 12mm in diameter inside (the thread?). i want to cut the pipe and use a compression male and female to join the pipe together.

Depending on how flexible the pipe is you may be able to welly a piece of 15mm copper inside it and jubilee clip on. If it is garden hose type you can get repair joiners.0
