House prices surge again

It seems unlikey that this is accurate given that every other index is showing flattish prices with a slight downward trend perhaps.
Still the data are the data.
Perhaps just not seasonally adjusted......
I'd suspect most indices would be up at in the first 6 months of the year without SA.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Why do the HPCers go berzequack every time something like this happens? Its amusing to watch but for goodness sake many of them having been seeing things like this for about six years.0

Love the picture of the young couple smiling, "hey love if we buy this and mortgage ourselves to the hilt, we can afford one night out every six months, let's dive in now, we'll be quids in"0

this is what we did and we are now looking for a house. not too mcch decent stuff on the market at the mo though. people seem to be hunkering down to ride out the recession.

You could always view a few places outside your budget, offer what you can afford, to test the waters so to speak. Apparently lots of places are selling for significantly less than asking price.:www: Progress Report :www:

I don't see why people seem so against this personally.
We seem happy to barter for other big ticket items like cars so why not the same with houses.
My sis is selling her house. There is an offer on the table which is 30K below asking. She feels (like everyone) that she priced her house realistically. She knows what she needs to buy the house up in the chain.
Instead of it remaining static, good estate agents should get them all round a table and barter away to hit a good deal.
The EA practise seems so old fashioned to me, unable to cope with changing economics.0 -
we have offered on a couple of nice places, but the sellers wont budge. they are crazy not to sell at a knock down rate in order to benefit me. crazy I tells ya! greedy home owning b'stards!0

This Express front page has totally ruined the HPC gangs day. I've never seen them so broken.
They know a headline like this will get asking prices rising. Every home owner will be adding up how much more they can MEW.We love Sarah O Grady0 -

You have a very vivid imagination, and possibly a delusion that everyone thinks the say way you do.
