Fair enough. But if the debt isn't yours isn't it constructive to let them know that it isn't so they don't shaft your credit file wrongly.
Not sorting out now could lead to much more work in the future.0 -

Do you suspect fraud?
I dont know if it could be fraud, I never thought of that...
I will send them the letter as suggested, and give them my new address - as I have no reason to hide, i honestly do not beleive these debts are mine.
How do I find out if it was fraud?0 -
First things first you need to figure out where you lived when the accounts were taken out (2003 & 2005), and whether there was anyone who could have opened these accounts in your name.
The accounts are both over 6 years old, so chances are they don't appear on your credit file. Another angle is that if they haven't been paid or acknowledged in writing for over 6 years (5 in Scotland) they are Statute Barred anyway.0 -

what does that mean? I never heard of these debts until yesterday.0 -
It means they have gone 6 years (5 in Scotland) without payment or written acknowledgement, so they are completely unenforceable in court.0

Ans if you tell them to get knotted they have to stop chasing you for the debt.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Hiya...I just wouldn't respond to them at all! They have sent letters to you at a previous address for debts you have never heard of that are state barred...I seriously wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like a fishing excercise.....Lowells are very good at chasing state barred dents or trying to get people to pay things they don't owe!! ( yes I speak from experience....they ended up removing a default from my file because I did not owe it!!) You wouldn't even know about this if your friend hadn't passed on your mail.
Nah crack on with your life, update your credit file and electrol role, because if Lowell really want to find you they will by those means anyway, let them work for your new address if they really think they can act on something that you know you don't owe let them look the idiots....x0 -
Quick mention, if you do decide to send the letter make sure you sign it digitally and not in pen, it has been known for some people to have an "agreement" sent with the signature lifted from a letter they signed.Credit card debt - NIL
Home improvement secured loans 30,130/41,000 and 23,156/28,000 End 2027 and 2029
Mortgage 64,513/100,000 End Nov 2035
2022 all rolling into new mortgage + extra to finish house. 125,000 End 20360 -

Very true, as they may (and do) send court papers to a previous address and obtain judgement by default.
You then have to go through the saga of having it set aside.Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -
