fridge temperature

For those wishing to check further. The correct way to check to temp of a fridge is to put a glass of water in it at least overnight and then measure the temperature of the water using a suitable thermometer, measuring the air temperature is not accurate and gives errors (usually reads high)
HTHThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -

Between 1.7 and 3.3..... I know because I checked this the other day, I had a few things going off in there, turns out the auto-defrost had packed up and it had built up with ice.0

2 degrees is perfect, yes. Up to 4 is still OK.0

Different parts of your fridge will be at different temperatures - ideally, you're looking for a temperature between 2 - 5 ºC. The danger zone for bacterial growth is 5 - 63 ºC. That's why some books will recommend a temperature of 4 ºC.
Another way of measuring the temperature is to keep a block of jelly in the fridge and use a probe thermometer to measure the jelly (and the temperature of other food stored) that way.0 -
I have just got a new Bosch fridge / freezer model KGV36VW30G
It only has a fridge thermostat which only permits you to set it in 2 degree c units.
The default is 4 which lets parts of the fridge get down to 0.2c and freezer -22c but if I set it to 6 it seems to get too warm (above 5 with freezer only at -10c in top drawer).
I bought it because it was supposed to be A++ rated with an annual consumption of 227kwh
Instead it uses more than my old one as the single compressor has to run quite a lot...

Seems my six day old KGV36VW30G has died

Passes diagnostic tests but compressor never runs
In superfreeze mode it draws only 16 watts.
Book says try unplugging for five minutes so just trying that...
Not a happy bunny.
