500pnd debt to the moneyshop

hi just after some info, i owe the moneyshop 500pnds because a wage check from my previos employer was bounced by him i am now unemployed ,at the time this happened i was renting a room at my sisters house , i had a debt agency ring me last week to ask if i could pat the ammount obviosly i said no? the thing is i have now moved out of my sisters to live in a static c aravan, which does not accept post and cant be used as a adress,they are ringing me in a few weeks the first questions they ask me is can i confirm my adress which when i was at my sis i could ,but now i technically dont have an adress so if i tell them im living in a caravan but dont have an adress i was wondering what there next move would be i??

Hi Ricardo,

First off, sorry to read about your situation.

Are you sure that you want a photo of yourself on here, while owing The Money Shop money?

As far as the Money Shop are concerned, all they'll be interested in, will be getting their money back.

As for your address situation, telling the Money Shop at a later date, that you never received their letters won't wash with them. They are known to be difficult to deal with, but don't be intimidated by them. They have to abide by the law.

Can you not ask your Sister to look after your post for you in the short term, until you're on more even footing?

You need to grab this by the horns; Close your bank account / cancel your debit card / both, and open a new 'basic' bank account asap.

Make sure you don't give Money Shop your new account details.

You need to be proactive sorting your bank accounts pronto.

I say this, as I've been there (still owe Money Shop money myself).

Be prepared for them to call you 7 / 8 times a day, every day.

thanks sim , i only have a basic bank account with 78p in it! i also dont get a signal on my phone where im staying in the caravan? so im basically uncontactable! what will they do is all i want to know if i dont have an adress to give them ? and if im unemployed and dont have any money???

Great to hear!

First things first, get your Statement of Affairs - your budget - up on here, so people can advise further.

Your priority bills / debts come first.

Anything like PayDay loans come after that.

Have a read of the two links, that I put in my first reply, and then take it from there.

thank you i basically have only enough to liuve on and dont have an adress what will they say if when asked for my adress i say im living in a caravan on a bit of land and am moving on to where i dnt know ???

When they call and ask you, tell them that you're currently of no fixed abode. This means they're probably going to keep calling you, which you'd usually prefer to avoid, but since in this case they can't get at your money anyway, just don't let them intimidate you. If they get pushy, point out that you're homeless and unemployed - even if you had money, they're at the back of the queue right now.

shall i block there number? how will they find me im a bit peeved because my ex boss bounced the cheque for my wages they should chase him ? if they cant find me what will they do ?

They're not going to chase him, their agreement was with you, and your contract of employment was with him. Your need to get on his case and get any wages he owes you out of him pronto. It sounds like these wages would pay off the money shop and you'd be fine, right?
