Got a Zanussi ZWF1430W which has started beeping and throwing up an error code - E90. It seems to only do it erratically (although when it does play up, it's usually at the start). Once the wash is going, it all seems ok.
I can't find anything on the net about E90, the user manual only mentions E10, E20 & E40 error codes.
Any ideas anyone?

Acording to this site;

an E90 fault is a problem relating to the main control module found behind the front facia. Check for a bad connection and hope the module hasn't blown !0 -
Thanks both of you.
Good link alan, thank you. Better go hunt for the paperwork to see if it's still under warranty.0 -

I had a Zanussi Machine, just recently packed up on me completely. It threw up the Error code E90 a lot and it was down to a loose connection in the control board. The engineer came out from Service Force and was in the house ten minutes, just took the top off the machine, tightened the connection and replaced the cover. Cost £50. No parts needed. Maybe that is the case with your machine. I have the manual for mine still knocking about, I'll see if I can find it and post back if there is anything in it about E90 codes, but it is just a general error code. How long have you had the machine? Mine had a high spin speed of 1400 tops, and I used it that speed no matter what, so loose connections are bound to happen at that rate.
I also found that initially the E90 code just came up when you went to start a programme, sometimes it took me several attempts before the machine would pick up the programme, just kept cancelling but it eventually picked up the programme and washed loads no problem. I had my machine for 5 years and 7 months from new before it went totally kaput. Replaced with a Miele and it is great. I'm thinking I binned the manual, when the machine died.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Taken from above link.....
I have had a few emails on this one, and it seems to be a common error code on some Zanussi models. This error code seems to be the control board detecting a wrong configuration (in other words, an illogical set of sensing conditions, from its connected sensors and wiring). It apparently can happen, when wires become badly contacting, or if contaminated with motor brush carbon (the horrible black powder that comes off the motor commutator and brushes), or corroded from other contaminants from the soap dispenser area. You should be able to check this, remove, clean and replace the contacts:
Funnily enough I mentioned to my wife that the error code seemed to get thrown up more often when the soap drawer was being pulled out (usually when my wife forgot to add the softener  ). Maybe it's not quite as bad as I'd first thought.
Smiley_Mum......your description fits our machine to a T. Ours is the 1400 too and like yours, always gets spun on that speed.
I've had no luck tracking down the paperwork yet, New Year always ensures a clean sweep in our house and my wife has even been through the office which of course has now meant I now longer know where anything is. I think we've had it longer than 1 year, possibly 18 months. I downloaded the manual from the Zanussi site but the only codes mentioned were E10, E20 and E40.
All the links above show the same thing so when the house is back to normal I'll get the top off and have a look around inside to see if I can clean the contacts up or check the connections etc.
Thanks to all for your help. It never ceases to amaze me just what a wealth of information and advice (freely given) comes from this site and it's members. It's very much appreciated.0 -
I found my old washing machine manual, thought I'd chucked it out. It states the following Standard Guarantee conditions...
We, Zanussi, undertake that if within 12 months of the date of purchase this Zanussi appliance or any part thereof is proved to be defective by reason only of faulty workmanship or materials we will at our option repair or replace the same FREE OF ANY CHARGE for labour, materials or carriage on condition that
The appliance has been correctly installed and used only on the electricity supply stated on the rating plate.
The appliance has been used for normal domestic purposes only, and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
The appliance has not been serviced, maintained, repaired, taken apart or tampered with, by any person not authorised by us.
All service work under this guarantee must be undertaken by a Zanussi Service Force Centre.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
