Carpet cleaning

  • I also have Bissell-its the proheat one which cost me £199. It is realy VERY good. The advantage of having your own cleaner is the lack of plannig it takes-no emptying a room etc, and you can just clean the heavy traffic areas if you like to freshen it up; I thought a lot about this when I was buying mine but it is only now that I have it that I realise I made the right choice. I buy the cheapest 3 in one carpet shaampoo I can find-Astonish-in poundshops and markets or pay twice as much for same stuff in Waitrose etc.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

I have a Bissell cleaner too. I love it. It cost £210 18 months ago (they're cheaper now though). My mum, sister and myself each paid £70 each. We live close to one another and we get on so no problems there.

If you want to buy the Bissell shampoo's, very often Ideal World (shopping channel) have it on. It costs £19.99 for 3 bottles, where Argos charge £14.99/£17.49(for pets) for one. I love the lavender stuff. http://www.idealworld.tv/csp/isd/ideal/index.csp (I can only get the link go to the homepage - sorry! Just search fro Bissell)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Has anyone used the Vax or Bissell on their sofas? My checked 3 piece suite needs a good clean and I can't afford the £120 I've been quoted by the professionals .. thought I'd hire a steam cleaner and do the carpets at the same time. Advice gratefully received!
    That's Numberwang!
  • I haven't used the Bissell on my suite as its leather, but I have used it in the car and it was fab! Really pleased with the results so I would expect the same for the suite. Depends how much of a clean it needs though to be honest.
  • I bought a Vax Rapide XL with contra rotating brushes from Makro last year (£100 + Vat) and have just used it for the first time. Really pleased with the results and because it has contra rotating brushes it has picked the pile up as well.

I was torn between the VAX V-027 Rapide XL and the Bissell but the Makro offer won the day.

Yes. I used my Vax on my fabric sofa regularly with a water and detergent solution and it always came up very well. Best to do it last thing at night before you go to bed though as it takes about 4 hours to dry sufficiently to be able to sit on it. After a while though, I got fed up with the effort and got a leather sofa, which can just be wiped clean with a damp cloth - Bliss!
