ehm hello?!? i have a rather bad flu and can't lie down for a minute because the 2 little ones need looking after [sigh]

That sounds sooooo familiar. The last time DH had "man flu" he actually asked me "So how come when you get ill you never get it as bad as me?" All my friends PTSL at that comment. I'd rather be ill myself than have him sick!

    Morning Denise :)

Got a few things to do tomorrow, washing wasn't completely dry when I went up earlier so that lot to put away tomorrow, goes in the kids bedrooms and they are asleep so don't want to wake them, and of course my 30 daily list which is keeping me on top of most things. Going to get the dehydrator working on the excess veggies etc so I can use them for soups for me, I'm the only one who will eat it so a lot was wasted before. Hoping to take the kids out for a nice long walk with the dogs, seeing as puppy can go out now :D might wear the little tike out as she's got us all driven round the bend! Plus if I take them out, there is less mess made :D Method in the madness!

If DP decides he's out for the day might take the kids to the garden centre for some inspiration with the wanting to grow some 'pot veg' there is one with a play area for the kids and a coffee shop if the weather isn't too bad :) drove past it the other day. Need a few things from shop like potatoes, bread etc so will pick them up on way home (must remember it's Sunday so shops close early)

Man Flu - don't even go there. Know what you mean by prefer being ill to them being ill as the headache is always 10 times worse. What's that saying ? Kids get colds, men get flu and women just get on with it!

Hello everyone, this is my first visit to this thread as I've been having a 'wander' round new territory on this site tonight!

I am intrigued by this thread and started reading the first couple of pages, but just wondered if someone would be kind enough to tell me how this flylady thing works? Do I have to sign up for something or does moggins post a list of things to be done every day?

I start a new part-time job on 1 Feb working mornings so I will have every afternoon free to spend as I wish, obviously housework being one thing I can't avoid! I also want to start up running again but I can do that straight from work before I get home to clean the house!

Thanks in advance for any further explanations!

You don't have to sign up to it but you can, I mainly work from Moggins list and my own daily list , both of which incorperate some of the flylady things but in a less American way, if you do sign up I would suggest using a 'junk' email address as you get quite a lot and helpful to keep seperate from the very important ones. The most important thing doing this has ave me is the extra time to do things I like as I am keeping on top of housework better and generally being more organised.

Welcome to the forum, and our little mini group in here, sure it'll have you flying in no time :D

Can I ask what are baby steps, are there 'set' dailies or do you choose those yourself and what are hotspots??!

Thanks, sorry for being a dumb newbie!!

Baby steps just means take it slowly to start, flylady starts you by shining sink, then adds to that slowly. Dailies you decide on your own, are recommended to include evening routine of getting clothes ready for next day, sink shining, 1 wash load a day, morning routine of getting dressed and ready to go, but mines been built over the last few months and now have 30 daily to dos, all small things probably but keep me right. Hotspots are the 'dumping' areas around the house that get out of control easily.

Incase these confuse 27 fling boogie is grab a bag and throw 27 things for the bin into it (or recycling, charity shop etc that bit is up to you) and S&S or Swish and Swipe is to give an area a quick swish and swipe, usually used for bathroom and kitchen, both on my dailies, just keeps on top of things :)

Nothings dumb, you just are new, nothing wrong with that :D Anything else you need to know just fire away, sure someone will guide you :)

  • hi all not much flying here today as seem to have endless visitors but how lovely to have clean and tidy (except for toys of course) house. Was able to cook for friend this evening (thank you nigella) without any hassle because kitchen tidy. OH said why don't we leave dishwasher as both tired but know it will be done - i'm not coming down to that in the morning!!

Moggins - won't be anything to do with you - schools are full of germs - i worked for a few days and had a cold straight away - haven't had one for ages.

Welcome spud - baby steps i think are small progress - something done is better than nothing done (thats how i think of it anyway!) I Think this has transformed my house and life in lots of ways - tasks set by moggins :A (thanks) and motivation through the day :T :T Night all

    hi all

got home from OHs on late train, so i can be at work in the morning, just enjoyed catching up on the thread! sounds like you've all been busy!

as i have sunday aft and possibly evening free i'm hoping to get some flying done then, bedroom needs a good hoover and sort out (need to get some clothes to charity shop so i can get the ones i wear into the wardrobe!! i probably wear about 1/10 of what i own!)

    so my jobs for sunday:

    empty dyson
    sort wardrobe
ironing mountain (i never do any!)
    put away clothes
hoover under bed & all through bedroom
    S&S bathroom
    S&S kitchen
    xmas & bday thankyou letters
    water plants
    quick hoover through flat
    fix loose carpet on stairs

watch new pride & prejudice dvd with a glass of wine :)

chopping boards - i use mine interchangeably (white ones from ikea) but they usually go through d/w (always after having meat on)

Moggins - Hope DD is improving. there's tons of stuff about at the moment, and they tend to pick more than one up once their immunity's low!

OHs/DHs/DPs - mine lives back with parents for the moment - i can see what's made him lazy - mum waits on him hand and foot (grrrrr). he knows i like things tidy so when he's here does his bit sometimes i think if we ever live together we'll have to meet half way as far as standards are concerned, as mine are a lot higher on the cleanliness / tidiness stakes. occasionally if he's here and i've been out i'll get back to find he's emptied the d/w etc, i always tell him how happy it makes me in the hope it'll encourage him.... :D

  • Morning Flyers!

chopping boards - i am another use interchangeably with glass ones. To kill anything on mine, i will pour boiling water over them when they have been used for meat. I sometimes drain the veg/rice/pasta over it to do this, or use XS water when i have made a cuppa. ;) I've noticed that my wooden one gets mouldy if when i wash it up,i stand it on end on the draining board as it actually sits in water.

Well - plans for the day:
    1) DH to do tax return online
    2) move money to current account to pay bill
    3) one or two loads through WM
    4) cook dinner - salmon, roast sweet pots, and salad
    5) meal plan for this week
    6) do last nights washing up  DH didn't do it, and i was a bit too poopered last night. Wish i'd just done it now.
    7) write a card to send to DH's mum
    8) change our bedding
    9) clean the kitchen sink properly
    10) hoover bathroom, babies room, landing, stairs, hall, kitchen and living room
    11) do a basic shop
    12) wash my hair
    13) try to iron anything
    14) make sure we do the kitchen/washing up this evening
    15) pack babies changing bag ready for early start going out tomorrow
    16) organise tomorrows clothes
    17) put recycling in garage
    18) compost in outside bin
    19) watch DVD rental so it can be posted back tomorrow.
    20) sort babies bottles

That's more than enough for today. I'd be really pleased if all that was done. Will have to get DH on board again. :D

    Have a Successful Sunday.
    Michelle, x
