Redundancy during Christmas season

The company I work for has been selling bits and pieces off for the last 2years. This year the department I work for came under TUPE due to the sale to a big company that dominates the uk. Wont say who they are only because I know they browse the websites etc
Anyway 2weeks after TUPE they announced that we will be made redundant as they did not need us. As the business elsewhere in the uk and india can take care of the extra work. We have later found that they are creating additional roles elsewhere and in the uk. Not as many as our numbers but still they are recreating some of the jobs. The distance to the uk site would be about 2hrs from where we are or longer. so not many will look into that
They are doing job fairs and training. though most of the training on-line and you cant stop work to do these e-learning courses.
Though my concern is that as my job is due to end November what jobs do you think I can get to carry me through the christmas period. Even if only temporary as that is all that will be available . Really sad they are letting us go during the christmas season, which has been queried but same o answers given.
What jobs can I get in november/december?
I will not know my actual end date or my redundancy package till October when the 90day consultation ends and then the 30 day individual one begins.
sad times but I hope something positive comes out of it

I think being notified now that you don't have a job at XMas means you know now that you need to save and not go on a spending spree this Xmas.
You should be able to get an idea of the pckage.
Are they offering statutory or an enhanced package.
will you be working notice or getting PILON.
how many years service do you have
seems generous amount of consultation if they know they are closing your locations.
Bottom line is would you want one of the newly created jobs and how do you make that happen.
If not
Temp jobs are the seasonal ones top of the list that I can think of are
retail

Marks & Spencer defintely take people on for Christmas, I have several friends who were made redundant last autumn and worked there for a few weeks to earn a bit of extra money for Christmas (although at least one of them has sworn not to work there again as she didn't like the way they treated their staff).0
