We have a HUGE store opened last year nearby BUT can never find anything in there we'd want to buy - it's full of Pizza, burgers etc. and very unhealthy ready meals - total carp! Gone in quite a few times hoping they had got better but we can never find anything in there. 6 miles away is a MUCH smaller store which has FAR more selection and healthier options. It's very easy to buy more than our freezer would hold in there.
I think a lot depends on the manager - a fast/junk food addict who doesn't like meat, fish & veggies must be at our local. I wouldn't think it's too much to do with what the locals buy as most people shop in both towns - the smaller store is in a town with far more shops and loads of free parking.
And the type of people that live around the shop as well. There is a large Iceland about a couple of miles from here and its on the outskirts of a large council estate. Hence why loads of chicken nuggets, chips, pizzas and poor quality burgers. The Iceland on the same street as my work has a better selection such as more of their world food ready meals etc.0 -
there's also one in West Bridgford which is in the better, greener side of town where folk has nicer houses! So maybe, they'll stock a more healthier range!0
