Another litter post ....

Sorry all, I did try to find my earlier thread but couldn't:( (must remember to subscribe to these so I can find them again).

Anyway, just wondered - has anyone tried this?

http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/cat-supplies/cat-care/cat-litter/pura-natural-sand-cat-litter-cedar-wood-fragrance.html

Currently using wood (and have a fair bit) but looking to top up an online order to get free delivery so thought I'd give something else a try - my wee one isn't great at "covering" and wondered if this may encourage her more than the wood. :D

Thanks

I've tried lots of different types of litter for my cats and I find that if you call up the company and explain that you're trying to find the best for your cat they have small sample bags you can try before buying a whole big bag! In terms of 'covering' it's down the to cat itself. I known cats that just don't do it no matter what. My kitten is the best in the world at covering but my older cat just doesn't think it's her job!

  • Thanks Rach, I may just try that!

They've always had wood (and I like it as no smells, easy to clean etc) but just wondered if she would cover with something more like soil!

I found the wood type litter really messy, as my cat likes to get in and play with the litter like he's in a sandpit...so I ended up with sawdust that he tracked all over the house. I wonder would this be any less messy??

Can't really comment on your specific litter question as I prefer premium clumping, but each to their own ;)

But in answer to your first point - not sure if you are aware, but if you click on your own name which shows towards the top of the forum pages, or anywhere you have posted, it brings up another page showing stats all about you? If you go on to the "Statistics" tab, there is a link stating "Find all threads started by {your name}" and you should be able to find it there! You can do this for any forum member, not just yourself ;)

    You're welcome :D
  • I use Sophisticat Gold, Ive tried everything else, newspaper, wood, silicone, crystal chips none of them seemed to work for me, but Sophisticat Gold is fantastic. Its got a weird talc like smell to it, and it clumps really well if that is what you are looking for ? I have three cats so have to fill out three litter trays so its not cheap, but generally one box works for a week or a day or two less. :-) x

I usually use Sainsbury's ultra clumping which is my most favoured cat litter, but occasionally I like to shop in Tesco as a change to Sainsbobs. Obviously, I can't get my favoured litter there, so I get the Sophisticat Gold. I agree that it is a good litter if you like the clumping variety.
