Can I take cuttings from this tree?

Hi, I have a tree, about 8 feet tall, that hasn't done much before. This year, it has gone beserk! It has large fern-like leaves, and loads of flowers, that look like deep red velvet cones, and some are a bright blood-red.
A neighbour thought it was called "Tree of Life", but wasn't sure. Can I take cuttings from this, and when should I do this.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Tree of life, stag horn or sumac I've known this tree as.
Its divine in autumn. Don't take a cutting, within a few years it will be sending up so many suckers you'll curse it, but have your spare tree (s). And pulling out others.
Its worth it imo. If dh likes them I'd have one like a shot.0 -
Thank you so much for the info.

Now you've identified it, I've found out loads of information. Apparently I'll soon have a glade, without having to do a thing.:)
